I selected Blossom and Root as a member of our party was vegetarian and often doesn't receive a remarkable meal. I, as a non vegetarian (please read on...), was amazed at the use of not just vegetarian, but vegan cooking to deliver a fantastic meal. I highly recommend their "Steak" salad built with maitake mushrooms as their version of steak. I was so impressed that I booked a table and brought some non-vegetarian friends to experience Blossom and Root and they also really enjoyed their meal. I highly recommend them for anyone interested in a really healthy vegetable based meal. I doubt you would be disappointed.

Lovely ambiance and super friendly staff. My daughter enjoyed the tofu lettuce cups that came with an abundance of fresh lettuce and mint along with a salty sauce for dipping. Grandpa enjoyed their veggie curry- which is a high compliment since he's eaten numerous curries. Husband ordered the crab cakes which was a little on the small size. Okay for him but probably not for our teenage son who wolfed down the hearty tofu bowl along with his favorite house-made soda. I had the mushroom "steak" salad with fennel that exceeded my expectations. It didn't seem to come with a dressing but was flavorful enough to not need it. The mushrooms were served hot over the cold greens which was a nice touch. It also came with crunchy fried onions which leant a nice crouton effect. The salad was large and could probably be shared if one isn't too hungry. For dessert we enjoyed the carrot cake that came in a jar parfait style. Not too sweet and a little sour. Also enjoyed was the chocolate mousse with extra chocolate chunks at the bottom of the jar. The chocolate chip cookie was served warm and brought back pleasant memories of my own grandmother's freshly baked vegan chocolate chip cookies from long ago.

Vegan? Are you sure I am going to like it? Being a picky eater comes with many challenges and I have to say that Blossom and Root delivers. I had the best sandwich (Crispy Funghi Sando) I've had in Danville in the past year. I can't wait to go back!

Date: Saturday, January 4th, 2025 Time: 12:30pm Party of: 2 Meal: Lunch Reservation Made: via OpenTable *Chilaquiles ($21) *Maitake Steak Salad ($19) *Smash Burger ($18) *Sauces ($2) *Domaine Brut Glass ($12) *Ginger Lime Soda ($8) I am not one to ever suggest a vegan restaurant. Especially with the hubby since he's a meat and carb eater. However, I am a veggie lover and don't mind eating lighter meals from time to time. Enter one of my girlfriends. We used to see each other more often and talk about healthier food options. Since we hadn't gotten together is quite some time, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to explore a new spot. We actually had no idea B&R was completely vegan until we talked to the server. I was very shocked by the blue cheese since it actually had a nice texture. The mushroom salad was my favorite item. A very generous portion as well. I'm normally not into apple in salads, but for some reason, it worked here. Lots of flavors that mixed well. The smash burger was fine as was the chilaquiles. I'd say both were pretty standard. I asked for hot sauce since I like a little spice. Had no idea it would cost $2 extra but hey, it's two bucks. Service was odd. He was very attentive at the beginning, but then maybe he got busy and forgot about us? Not that we were in a hurry, but it did take some time to flag him down when we were finished with our meal. A solid place if you're looking for some vegan fare. REVIEW #3677

Four friends came here and we enjoyed our meal very much. We had the smash burgers, and the crabcake both erre absoloutely delicious and dull od flavor. We had the hickory salad and the sweet potato soup. Those were tasty as well and some lattes. The ambiance is quaint and clean. My only feedback was the service was very slow. For such a small place with only a few tables, the food took roughly 45 minutes to all arrive. Items ordered were left off and brought later. And we kept getting overlooked when we were needing things. Twice I had to go find someone to wait on us. As a local, this is not typical experience for a downtown Danville restaurant. I'm still giving 4 stars because facility, locafion, and food were that level. The service can be improved by hiring more staff to cook and also wait on the guests.

Very pleasantly surprised upon our first (but definitely not last) visit. The food and drinks were absolutely flavorful and delicious. Our party had the Tofu Bowl, Mushroom Steak Salad, Caesar Salad, Grilled Sourdough with herb butter/ kumquat jam, a broccoli cheese soup, strawberry champagne cocktail, cider and blackberry mint limeade. The salads had a delicious grill char flavor, and all of the entrees were hearty and satisfying. My son felt his tofu bowl was a bit too spicy for him, and didn't love his blackberry limeade, but he still tried to eat up all the rest. Overall, we appreciated the tasty dishes, and our service was very courteous with recommendations and a smile. To those concerned about price, it's a sign of the times, not just for this restaurant IMO. But you get what you pay for, and we need more of this kind of food.. done right. The restaurant is easy to find, in the old Danville Hotel, along the restaurant row. It's got a charming style. We came for a drop in for lunch and had to wait 15 min, but we're happy we did.

Always exceptional service at B&R. Tommy is sweet and always so polite. Food was good. I tried the crab cake sandwich this time with a lettuce wrap and the early girl tomato soup. Sandwich was good. Very filling. Loved the cheese. The soup was very flavorful. Everything was delicious as usual.

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner with the boo. We were very eager to explore what this restaurant had to offer in terms of vegan (and gluten free) items, and boy we were impressed! We were seated right away and had a lovely server. Loved the decor with all the hanging plants (screams the crazy plant lady in me...) I started off with a Mandarin Mojito, which was delicious. It's fruity and tangy, but refreshing like a spritzer. #'Crab' Cakes - as someone who's a self-proclaimed crab lover, I wouldn't say the texture was the same, BUT they were really delicious. These were crispy on the outside and slightly gooey on the inside with some texture (?stringiness) from the mushroom. Loved the pickled onions on top to add a bite of acidity. #Smash Burger - We got this with a side of potato salad. The first round came out with burnt buns, which rendered the burger inedible. We conveyed this to our server, and were quickly given a new burger on the house to enjoy. The potato salad was delicious; I like it with a tang of mustard, which this definitely delivered. The burger itself was also quite good. I can't believe the bread was gluten free! #Mushroom Steak Salad - This was the winner of the night. I still couldn't believe the 'blue cheese' was actually cashew based! The mushrooms were cooked to perfection and had such a wonderfully 'meaty' flavor and texture. I'd turn vegan for this salad alone. All in all a wonderful meal service. There were some hiccups with one of the entrees, however we were met with wonderful service and quick resolutions. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!
